Which Country Would You Like To Live In (Besides Your Own)?

Which Country Would You Like To Live In (Besides Your Own) If There Were No Barriers

Map found via reddit; full size here.

The map above shows which country in the world people would most want to live in, if there were no barriers preventing them from doing so.

The data comes from the 2013 WIN/Gallup International Association End of Year Survey. The specific question asked was:

“If there were no barriers to living in any country of the world, which country would you like to live in?”

In most countries, the majority of people said they’d want to keep living where they are living. So the map above just shows the top international destination people would choose to move to if they could.

For some reasons the map omits data for the UK, which (unsurprisingly) picked Australia.

What do you think of the map? Accurate of flawed? Please leave your comments below and share the map with your friends.

I would prefer northern Scotland (UK) or Canada. I have lineage to those countries as well.

This proves the priverb “grass is always greener on the other side”
Most people would stay where they are others will move to ciuntries they thik are perfect whereas residents of those countries want to leave them

I looked at the map and I am not it is very accurate, as a Moroccan I am quite sure that my fellow citizens dream country is Saudi Arabia. There are in fact many Moroccans in the Gulf but I think they are much more attracted by Europe or North America…

I was wondering about that. Do you think people dream to live in Saudi Arabia for religious reasons, or does it have to do with life style?

I would enjoy living in the West Coast of Ireland in County Clare. Liscannor Bay to be specific.

Any French, Germans or Austrians who want to live in Canada can swap places with me. After spending great chunks of time there, it’s Europe or bust for me. Wish it were more feasible.

Sadly, what was shown for Poles is close to truth – so many of them want to go to the USA. However, for me – if I could experience a bit of diversity for some period of time – it would probably be Ireland, due to the beauty of the country and the temperament of the people there, which seems similar to mine 馃檪

    Map is no clear!!
Does it mean most Brazilians would prefer to life in the States and most of Russia and South East Asia in Switzerland – while American’s themselves would rather live in Canada (for their personal safety i guess) and Canadians in turn rather in Small Britain??

This should be an annual survey, published so more people can see it and partcipate in it.
Living south of Canada I can’t imagine anyone wanting to live there.

Clearly there is an opioid crisis in the US.

NOBODY wants to move to South Sudan ok? South Sudan is on the Do Not Travel list of the US State Department. Many of the good parts of Mexico are also #4s or Do NOT Travel.

Nor are they pining to move to Iceland, Poland, Turkey, Vietnam or India.

Also I lived in Argentina and Brazilians dislike Argentina, anything below 22C is FREEZING to them.

    But this was entertaining.
